Candlewick Players present
The Importance of Being Earnest
Considered one of the most famous of comedies of all time, this masterpiece is a witty and bouyant comedy of manners. Delighting millions in countless productions ever since its first performance in London on February 14, 1895, "The Importance of Being Earnest has been celebrated not only for its light-hearted ingenuity of its plot, but for its inspired dialogue.
The play begins in Algernon Moncrieff's London flat where Jack Worthing proposes to the love of his life, but soon the situation becomes dire as his love's mother draws the engagement to naught due to Jack's somewhat unknown past. Will that kill their love? But this comic masterpiece doesn't end there... soon Algernon discovers his friend's country home only to find Jack's beautiful ward. Soon the issue of one's name is brought to light with misconceptions as to just who is "Earnest" and who isn't.
Join Candlewick Players as they present this classic comedy filled with romance, misunderstanding, and comedy galore. Complete with a full 3-course meal, this is an event to celebrate the season of love
